Have you tracked your books or reading minutes for Orrville Public Library’s Winter Reading Challenge? The challenge runs through the end of the month. The more you read, the more chances you have to win.

Teens and kids will track how many minutes they read. Teens will earn a prize entry for every 60 minutes of reading. Children will earn prizes in 100-minute reading increments and will have the choice of a small prize or a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of three large prizes. Adults will earn a prize entry for each book they read. Track your reading accomplishments in Beanstack or on a paper log sheet, available at the library.

For more information call the library at 330-683-1065. If you need things to read, call and library staffers will pull books from the shelves for you to pick up at the drive-up window.

February Book Club

Orrville Public Library’s February Book Club book is “Women Talking” by Miriam Toews. The true-life events referred to in the book took place from 2005-09 in a remote Mennonite community in Bolivia. Women woke to discover they had been sexually assaulted in their sleep. In her book, adapted into a film by the same name, Toews creates a story of similar circumstances. The women must decide how to maintain their faith in light of the abuse, whether they will truly be denied entry into heaven if they refuse to forgive their offenders, what it means to forgive and to heal, and the pros and cons of staying or leaving.

Pick up a copy of the book at the circulation desk and plan to come to the Book Club on Thursday, Feb. 8 to share thoughts on the book. Come to either the 10 a.m. or the 6:30 p.m. gathering. No registration is needed.

Palentine’s Party

Middle- and high-schoolers are invited to Orrville Public Library’s Palentine’s Party on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. Make a friendship bracelet, play games and eat snacks at this free event in the lower-level meeting room. No registration is needed.
