The Orrville Area United Way board of directors unanimously approved the promotion of associate director Sally Criss to the position of executive director, effective Sept. 21 upon the retirement of Helen Meyers, who has been the executive director of the Orrville Area United Way for more than 33 years. Meyers will retire Sept. 20.

Criss was hired as associate director on May 16, 2018, with the hope she would move to the executive director position upon Meyers’ retirement.

Criss’ passion for the work of the United Way and her commitment to seeing things through made the decision an easy one, according to the board.

“Criss’ work co-chairing the marketing and events committee has been exemplary,” Helen Meyers said. “From making a large impact to seeing that the small details are covered, Criss has gone above and beyond to see that the Orrville Area United Way’s brand is recognized and a purpose is brought to the events the organization puts on and participates in.”
