ORHS hosting upcoming events at its rail yard
The Orrville Railroad Historical Society will host train rides at its rail yard in Orrville, including on the open-air car #501.

The Orrville Railroad Historical Society will host train rides at its rail yard in Orrville.

Rides will be available in the open-air car #501 and coach #208, with ride times at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The cost is $15 per seat in the open-air car #501 and $20 per seat in the coach #208. Tickets are available online via Etix, with online ticketing fees applying, or you can purchase tickets at the rail yard ticket office while open seats remain.

The ORHS also has events scheduled for September.

The Sept. 14 ice cream special will be held at the ORHS rail yard from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with train rides in the open-air car #501 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The cost is $20, plus online ticketing fees per seat. Seating is limited, so order early. Tickets are available online via Etix.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, the ORHS will host its Horn Blast and Open House at the rail yard from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Collectors can bring their own train horn and blow it between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. There also will be guided walking tours of the rail yard, and participants can learn the histories of the equipment. Walking tours will be available at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Train rides in the open-air car #501 will be at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., with limited seating. Admission is $10 onsite (not available online) and includes a train ride. Blow your own horn for an extra $5.
