Kevin Harvey was appointed to a second term as Strasburg Board of Education president during the Jan. 4 organizational meeting. Diana Flickinger was named vice president. Harvey also will serve as the board representative to the Buckeye Career Center’s board.

The board will meet the third Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the board room located in the administration building. Board members will receive $70 per meeting for up to 25 meetings per year if necessary. After the next general election of new board members, which will occur in two years, they will receive $100 per meeting.

Board member Stacy Bitikofer did not seek re-election, and board member Wes Hostetler resigned because he was elected to Strasburg Village Council.

In other matters the board did the following:

—Established a $5,000 service fund to pay expenses incurred by members or their official representatives for the performance of their duties.

—Tabled committee appointments until two new board of education members are selected.

—Approved 22 annual business resolutions for 2023-24.

—Entered into an executive session to consider appointment of a public employee. No action was taken.

There was a special board meeting on Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. to consider the appointment of a public employee.

The next regular meeting will be held Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at 140 N. Bodmer Ave. in Strasburg.
