OneEighty’s Break the Cycle set for Aug. 24

OneEighty will host its 14th annual Break the Cycle, an event dedicated to addressing the stigma associated with addiction, on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Presented by JM Smucker Company, Rea and Associates, Wayne Insurance Group, and individual donors such as the Mathur family, Steve and Cheryl Shapiro, and Dave Spector, the event includes four bike options — 24-, 50- or 72-mile routes and Holmes County Trail Ride — and two 5k walks. Two events are highlighted this year as OneEighty celebrates its 50th anniversary — a 50-mile bike ride and a five-decades 5k walk.

The cost is $40 per person and includes a hot lunch, and children under 12 can walk or ride the Holmes County Trail for free. Registration on the day of the event increases to $45. Individuals participating in cycling routes will begin and end at Buss Hall at the Wayne County Fairgrounds while individuals riding the Holmes County Trail will begin at Hipp Station in Millersburg. Start times vary for each route. See the website for more details.

Participants have two choices if participating in the 5k walk, which will begin at 9 a.m. They can begin at the Wayne County Fairgrounds and walk through downtown Wooster or do more of a nature walk on the Holmes County Trail.

All proceeds for Break the Cycle bolster OneEighty’s programs for addiction treatment and prevention.
