OHuddle celebrates its 10th year with fundraising event

On Saturday, June 1, corporate teams had the opportunity to put their putt-putt skills to the test at a one-of-a-kind fundraising event supporting the OHuddle mentorship program at Wooster City Schools. In celebration of OHuddle’s 10th anniversary, Acres of Fun hosted the second annual Mini Golf Scramble. The winner of the golf scramble was Artiflex Manufacturing.
Following the golf scramble and breakfast burritos, an Orrville vs. Wooster go-kart race was held featuring OHuddle celebrity racers. The racers included Wooster Mayor Bob Reynolds, Wooster City Schools superintendent Gabe Tudor, Jarrett Companies owner Mike Jarrett, Jody Starcher of the JM Smucker Co., the Wooster Generals mascot, and Orrville Red Riders mascot. OHuddle mentees and mentors cheered on the racer participants, with Tudor conquering the track with the fastest overall time.
An awards ceremony was held after the race with the celebrity winner receiving a trophy. OHuddle Executive Director Sara Reith celebrated the 10-year anniversary of OHuddle Inc., by recognizing the original 10 OHuddle mentors: Marty Boyle, Joanne Amstutz, Todd Patterson, Beth Anderson, Beth Young, Max Fischer, Shelly Mountyjoy, Sue Mendenhall and OHuddle co-founder Joe Rubino, OHuddle unveiled a mural created by the OHuddle team and the Wooster Church of the Nazarene volunteers. The mural wasmade of recycled bottle caps collected by OHuddle students and mentors, representing the values shared at OHuddle.
