OAUW’s VITA tax help available again

Orrville Area United Way will once again be a host of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program for the 2023 tax season. The VITA program offers free tax-preparation services for families with household incomes generally less than $60,000, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns.
VITA is staffed by IRS-certified volunteers and provides free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Last year Orrville Area United Way successfully helped file 117 claims, totaling $243,000 in returns and saving taxpayers approximately $26,000 in preparation fees. This initiative not only provides financial assistance to those in need, but also contributes to the economic well-being of the community.
This year Orrville Area United Way will continue its commitment to assisting individuals and families in navigating the tax-filing process. VITA will be hosted at the Orrville Area United Way, 135 N. Main St., Orrville. Services will be available Feb. 14 through March 13.
