November events at Orrville Railroad Heritage Society
November is Model Railroad Month, and the Orrville Railroad Heritage Society will host several events.
Route 30 Express
Continuing with tradition on Saturday, Nov. 23, the Orrville Depot will once again participate in the Route 30 Express, an annual holiday event put on by area model railroaders to promote the hobby by inviting the public to visit their model railroads. All model railroads are located in Northeastern Ohio, in close proximity to U.S. Route 30. Stop by and see the Orrville Depot museum with operating model railroad layouts. Admission is free, and hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Home for the Holidays
On Friday, Nov. 29, the ORHS will again be a participant in Orrville’s Home for the Holidays. Stop by Orrville Union Depot to see the displays/local artifacts, treat yourself to Orr Theatre popcorn, find gifts in the gift shop and consider gifting yourself a membership to be a part of what the ORHS does.
Santa Trains
On Saturday, Nov. 30, Santa Trains will begin running. It’s recommended tickets are purchased online ahead of time, as these trains usually sell out. New this year, Open Air Car 501 is available for a winter ride, but Santa does not visit CAR501. Tickets are available online at www.orrvillerailroad.com/events.
