Wooster City Schools welcomed two new board of education members this month — Rik Goodright and Joy Kleinhenz — who were officially inducted at the organizational meeting on Jan. 8.

“We are excited to welcome our newest board members and look forward to continuing our work for Wooster City Schools,” said Jody Starcher, board president. “Mrs. Kleinhenz and Mr. Goodright are long-standing Wooster residents and will bring unique perspectives and insights to the board.”

Goodright, a lifelong Wooster resident, graduated from WHS in 1975 and pursued an elementary education degree at Bowling Green State University, followed by a master’s degree in administration at Ashland University. With a career spanning teaching, coaching and administrative roles, he contributed significantly to Wooster City Schools, serving as a principal, human resources director and assistant superintendent. He later served as superintendent of Massillon City Schools and now works with Neola Inc., a school board policy company. Additionally, he is the executive director of the Wayne County Historical Society in Wooster.

Kleinhenz has been a resident of Wooster for the past 25 years. She attended Kent State University, where she earned a BA in English and Psychology and an Ed.S. in School Psychology at Indiana University in Bloomington for her graduate degree. Kleinhenz previously worked with children and families for over 30 years and currently works as a school psychologist at the Tri-County ESC in a variety of settings. As a parent of a WHS graduate and a current junior, she has enjoyed volunteering in leadership roles in her daughters’ classrooms, sports and arts organizations.

“Mr. Goodright and Mrs. Kleinhenz are committed to our schools, and we are thankful to have them serve on the board,” Superintendent Gabe Tudor said. “I look forward to working with them throughout their terms.”
