New concert series to get underway in New Phila
A community concert series aimed at bringing together music lovers from all walks of life will get started with Emmy Rae on June 1.

Alley Cats Marketplace, Fresh the Market and Lacey Performing Arts Center announced the launch of a community concert series aimed at bringing together music lovers from all walks of life for Saturday afternoons of entertainment, shopping, eating at local restaurants and camaraderie.

These concerts will take place the first Saturdays of the summer — June 1, July 6 and Aug. 3 — at the outdoor patio at Lacey PAC, 116 First Drive SW, New Philadelphia. The concerts are open air and free to all ages.

This concert series is in addition to Chetsville Productions’ Summer Sounds held Saturday, July 20 in conjunction with Downtown New Philadelphia Summer Sidewalk Sales.

Featured artists the first Saturday include Emmy Rae at 11 a.m. Rae is a 19-year-old indie/alternative artist based in Morgantown, West Virginia. She will sing a variety of original and crowd favorites while playing her ukulele and guitar. Rae is currently in production of her debut album.

From 12:30-3 p.m. Dan Gribble, local musician/singer, will perform songs from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.

From 3:15-4 p.m. the Tuscarawas County Ukulele Squad, a new group formed through the Dover Public Library, will play and sing a variety of tunes, and audience participation is encouraged.

On July 6 Melly West & the Sunshine Funtime Band, Nick Bonner, and others are scheduled. Aug. 3 musicians will be announced.
