Mullet enjoys helping students reach their goals

Jackie Mullet got into teaching because she wanted to make a positive impact on others’ lives.
“Working in a school allows me to inspire, support and help children develop the skills necessary to be successful communicators,” said Mullet, a speech-language pathologist at Berlin, Wise, Flat Ridge and Mt. Hope elementary schools in the East Holmes Local School District.
Mullet embraces the challenges that come with the field of speech-language pathology, such as her students’ varying ages and needs.
“I enjoy continuously learning and researching ways to best support the students that I serve,” she said.
A rewarding part of her job is whenever one of her students masters their speech and language goals.
Her job doesn’t come without its challenges, though. Scheduling is one of them.
“Trying to schedule children from all different grade levels with different needs and different classroom schedules can be challenging,” Mullet said, “kind of like putting a puzzle together that has very small pieces.”
Her favorite teaching memories center around community field trips with the district’s students who have multiple disabilities.
Mullet participated in cheerleading, Booster Club and tennis when she was a student.
She loves spending time with her husband Josh and three children, Lyla, Mia and Jack, traveling and being anywhere warm. She also enjoys swimming, reading books and cuddling with her dog Rocket.
