Loudonville Lions Club hosting Christmas Carnival Dec. 2

Area children and families will have an opportunity to not only see Santa Claus make a visit to Loudonville, but also help support a charity at the same time.
On Saturday, Dec. 2, the Loudonville Lions Club will host its annual carnival with a variety of games, prizes and refreshments.
“The Lions Club has done the Christmas Carnival for at least 20 years,” said Ashley Buirley, carnival co-chairperson and Lions Club member. “It is purely designed to give the kids of the community a fun opportunity. We do not do this event to make a profit, but we do charge for the tickets to cover some of the costs. We keep everything very low cost, like the tickets, so every family can afford to come and have fun.”
The event will run from 2:30-5 p.m.
Along with a sand art table and a temporary tattoo booth, the afternoon has been designed to give children of all ages fun and laughter.
“We have several games like Plinko, a Christmas tree toss, a balloon pop, Nerf shooting, ski-ball and a Christmas golf game, to name a few,” Buirley said. “Plus, Santa will be there to greet and interact with the kids.”
Buirley said tickets cost 25 cents each, and most games require one to three tickets to play.
“Families are welcome to bring in nonperishable food items to donate to Helping Hands Food Pantry in exchange for five free tickets,” she said. “We also have Christmas cookies for purchase with tickets and popcorn. There is also a prize table where they get to turn their tickets in for prizes when they are finished.”
The carnival is just one of many events the Lions Club hosts over the course of the year.
“The Lions Club is a great organization that works hard with events throughout the year to raise money to be able to give that money back to provide support and make our community a better place,” Buirley said.
The Loudonville Lions Club is located at 643 Wooster Road in Loudonville.
