Local YMCA gymnasts compete at North Canton

The Tuscarawas YMCA gymnastics team sent both its optional and compulsory teams to North Canton for an NEO league meet on Saturday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Dec. 17. The two-day meet included teams from Ashland, Cambridge, North Canton, Riverfront, Tuscarawas and Wooster. The Tusc Level 3 team took third place while the Level 5 team took first and second place in all events. Top all-around gymnasts were Kendall Geers with 36.1 points out of 40 possible points and Skyler Kellerman with 35.4 points.

Local gymnasts scoring a 9.0 or higher were Kendall Geers with 9.5 on floor, 9.2 on vault and 9.0 on beam; Skyler Kellerman with 9.3 on floor, 9.1 on bars and 9.0 on vault; Mia McPeek with 9.7 on floor; Lily Endlich with 9.55 on floor; Auria McDaniel with 9.4 on floor; Jaycie Baker with 9.4 on floor; Elizabeth Brantley with 9.35 on floor; Lily Denney with 9.2 on floor; Kinley Reichman with 9.1 on vault; and Vivian Denney with 9.0 on beam.

Seven local girls took first-place honors. They were Rebekah Klaserner on bars, beam and all around; Anna Bonvechio on vault and floor; Mia McPeek on floor; Lily Endlich on floor; Skyler Kellerman on floor; Kendall Geers on vault; and Vivian Denney on beam.

Seventeen gymnasts earned awards for the top six places in individual events:

Level 7

—Mia McPeek: first on floor, third on bars and fourth all around.

—Auria McDaniel: fourth on floor and sixth on vault and bars.

Level 6

—Vivian Denney: first on floor.

—Lily Denney: fourth on bars and beam.

—Jaycie Baker: fourth on floor.

Level 5

—Rebekah Klaserner: first on bars, beam and all around and second on vault and floor.

—Anna Bonvechio: first on vault and floor and second on bars, beam and all around.

Level 4

—Ellie Horger: second on bars and beam and third all around.

—Kinley Reichman: fourth on vault.

Level 3

—Skyler Kellerman: first on floor, second on vault and bars, and fourth all around.

—Ari Burcher: third on beam, fourth all around, and fifth on vault, bars and floor.

—Alyse Mello: third on beam, fourth on floor and fifth on vault.

—Elizabeth Brantley: second on floor, fourth on beam, fifth all around and sixth on bars.

—Allyson Kerns: fourth on bars, fifth on floor, and sixth on vault and all around.

—Alaysia Garner: second on vault and fifth on beam.

—Aaliyah Garner: fourth on vault and sixth on beam.

—Teagan McDonald: sixth on beam.
