Local Women’s Leadership Institute holding debut event Oct. 17

In June of this year, a group of women in Holmes County decided to form a group to create connections and opportunities for women in the county and surrounding areas. This month the Women’s Leadership Institute - Holmes County will hold what it hopes will be the first of many events.
The Women’s Leadership Institute - Holmes County’s first event, Leverage the Power of LinkedIn and Build Your Personal Brand, will be held Thursday, Oct. 17 at 8:30 a.m. at the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce, 6 W. Jackson St., Millersburg. The event will be held in the upstairs meeting room. Breakfast and coffee will be provided by the breakfast sponsor, Owens Real Estate Firm.
The guest speaker will be Katie Koglman, CEO of United Way Wayne and Holmes Counties, who will discuss building a personal brand and leveraging LinkedIn. Attendees will learn how to elevate their profile to connect more to professionals, seek guidance and increase their social selling score. Koglman will share tips and tricks to standing out on LinkedIn.
There will be some time for mingling and connecting at the start of the one-hour meeting, and it is hoped there will be time for a short Q-and-A discussion at the conclusion.
Tina Owens is one of the women who started the organization.
“We already have events, speakers and social hours planned through June of 2025,” Owens said. “Every month will be a new topic, ranging from professional to personal growth to just having fun and socializing.”
The group plans to grow and see where it takes them and discover what the community needs. Owens said the goal of the new organization is to create opportunities for women to grow and succeed, to feel intentionally supported, respected and given a voice.
Reservations are required for the free event. To reserve a spot, get more information, or inquire about becoming more involved or speaking at a future event, call/text Owens at 330-231-0733 or email Tina@OwensRealEstateFirm.com. RSVPs also may be made using the link below.
Find and follow the Women’s Leadership Institute - Holmes County on Facebook to keep updated on future events. Currently, plans include a Nov. 21 gathering at 11:30 a.m. at Sunny Slope Winery. The speaker will be winery co-owner Tara Bright.
“With the winter months approaching,” Owens said, “December through February will be evening social meetings with a few surprises.
“We would love to have more speakers and programs, and yes, the more the better. We want to help others grow. We are located in Holmes County, but doors are open to anyone who wants to attend our monthly meetings.”
