Former candidate for U.S. Congress Brandon Lape recently announced his exploration of a 2024 run for state representative (OH-98). The 98th District currently consists of Holmes and Coshocton counties and the eastern half of Knox County.

Current State Rep. Darrell Kick (R-Loudonville) will reach term limitations and is not permitted to run for re-election in 2024. Lape, also from Loudonville, ran for U.S. House of Representatives in 2020 (OH-7) and again after redistricting in 2022 (OH-12).

Lape, who has worked for over 10 years in information technology, will use this exploration period to gather future volunteer support, visit with Republican leaders and members at local events, and raise campaign funds. The official launch date for his campaign is dependent upon this exploration.

Lape is a supporter of smaller government, growing Ohio through private investment and making it easier for aging Ohioans to retire confidently and comfortably.

“We must work to make Ohio so self-sufficient that it doesn’t matter what the federal government does,” he said. “Ohioans will stand strong and protected.”
