L-P BOE accepts donations during October meeting

The Loudonville-Perrysville Board of Education held a regular meeting in the Loudonville High School cafeteria on Oct. 9.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Accepted a $10,000 donation from FFA Alumni and Supporters to the Loudonville FFA to buy students their FFA jackets.
—Accepted the following donations from McMullen Parents Association: a light table and accessories for use in Mrs. Brown’s room, an office chair and a classroom rug for use by Mrs. Donley, Popsicles for every student, gluten-free playdough for Mrs. Baker’s room, alternative seating and slanted writing desks for Mrs. Pollard, a horseshoe table for Mrs. Portz, a mobile lectern for Mr. Brumfield, an educational science website subscription for Mrs. Stitzlein, flexible seating materials for Ms. Wheeler, and PBIS prizes for PBIS store.
—Accepted the following donations from LP Foundation: $500, classroom instructional materials for Mrs. Reisinger and TPT gift cards.
—Accepted a donation of school supplies from Loudonville Public Library and $100 from Perrysville Lions Club.
—Approved the treasurer’s three-year contract for 2023-26.
—Approved the employment of Alicia Vaughan, Redbird Academy tutor, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.
—Approved the employment of Brian Wilson, bus driver, retroactive to Sept. 22, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.
—Approved the following individuals as substitutes for classified positions for the 2023-24 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position: Ashley Lee (aide), Beth Ring (aide), Greg Sulser, Sharon Strimple, Gerald Lewis and Cassandra McCaskey.
—Approved the transfer of Danel (Raena) VanHouten from a cafeteria aide at McMullen (two hours) to a cafeteria aide at C.E. Budd (2 ½ hours), retroactive to Aug. 18.
—Approved the following supplemental contracts for the 2023-24 school year: Kaitlyn King, varsity girls basketball assistant (JV) coach; David Vaughan, varsity wrestling assistant coach; and Mike Baker, winter weight training coach.
—Approved the following pupil activity contracts for the 2023-24 school year: Rex Conway, varsity girls basketball assistant coach; Hannah Clark, freshman (varsity assistant) girls basketball coach; Dennis Schrock, freshman (varsity assistant) girls basketball coach; Emily Eikleberry, eighth-grade girls basketball coach; Matt Spangler, seventh-grade girls basketball coach; Cathy Vermilya, elementary girls basketball coach; Jon Guilliams, varsity assistant boys basketball coach; Kyle Kegley, varsity assistant boys basketball coach (JV); Jacob Gessner, freshman (varsity assistant) boys basketball coach; Steve Seaman, eighth-grade boys basketball coach; Dick Knight, seventh-grade boys basketball coach; Tom Layton, volunteer JH boys basketball coach; Andy Van Horn, elementary boys basketball coach; Jarrod Strine, head JH wrestling coach; Seth Heldenbrand, volunteer JH wrestling coach; Andy Reidenbach, elementary wrestling coach; Marcia Bitner, volunteer HS swimming coach; Samantha Thiemens, varsity basketball assistant cheerleading coach; and Mackenzie Wade, head JH basketball cheerleading coach.
—Approved multiple field trip requests.
—Approved Rose VanSickle to be paid for attending the three-hour ELA training session on Aug. 11.
—Approved a resolution that includes the superintendent’s recommendation to terminate the limited, nonteaching continuing contract of employment of Donnell Bird, effective Oct. 10.
Other information
Kettering Scholarship Award winners Grace Ringler, Alyssa Henley, Blake Robinson, Aiden Neibert, Camryn Butts, Riley Spreng, Natalee Buzzard, Olyvia Fenton and Payton VanSickle were recognized for their accomplishments and for representing the LPEVSD in a positive manner.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Nov. 20 in the Loudonville High School cafeteria.
