Kettle drive does not reach goal

The Fairless Salvation Army final count for its recent December kettle drive is in. With a goal of $20,000, they were only able to raise about $13,000.
This means they will go back to their original mission of providing food only for clients and will result in the cancellation of their back-to-school event and lowering of the amount that will be donated for Christmas assistance. A meeting in May will determine if clients only can be helped with back-to-school items.
Business donors included Brewster Federal Credit Union, Perry Grange, Kraus’ Pizza, Spidell Funeral Home, Baltzley Dental, Brewster Moose Lodge 1102, MCTV and Mercer Insurance Agency.
Brewster Marathon and TSC on Route 21 hosted manned kettles in their stores, and many businesses hosted counter kettles. Fairless Schools had a kettle at December sporting events. These supporters alone contributed over half of the donation amount.
While they did not come close to their goal, they have enough to continue to serve the community and provide food assistance and maybe a little more for the year.
Donations can be made year round by mailing a check to Fairless Salvation Army, c/o St. Paul UCC, 21 Wooster St. NW, Navarre, OH 44662.
