J.J. Boroski to serve in new leadership role
The board of trustees of the Ohio Council of Behavioral Health & Family Services Providers has elected J.J. Boroski to serve as its board president, effective Jan. 1.
Boroski is the executive director of Community Mental Healthcare in Dover, which provides behavioral health, substance abuse, crisis intervention and primary care services in Tuscarawas and Carroll counties.
“I am honored to have been chosen to lead the Ohio Council,” Boroski said. “I have been involved in the organization for over five years and continue to be amazed by the talent and passion of its board members and staff.”
The Ohio Council is a statewide trade association that represents 150 private not-for-profit organizations, providing community-based mental health, alcohol and other drug addiction treatment, and family services throughout Ohio. The organization advocates for the prioritization of behavioral health legislation and responsible policy implementation at the state and federal levels of government.
The organization was significantly involved with the Ohio Department of Medicaid’s recent redesign of Medicaid reimbursement for behavioral health services, which go into effect Jan. 1.
“The redesign process is a great example of the council’s influence at the state level,” Boroski said. “With each iteration of the redesign, the council represented and fought for the best interests of Ohio’s agencies. The council’s dedication to ensure the continuation of appropriate funding for critical services was vital to the future of our industry. There’s still a tremendous amount of work to be done, and I truly look forward to leading the council into this new chapter of behavioral health care.”
Boroski, who has served on the Ohio Council's board since 2012, will conclude his current role as the council’s secretary/treasurer at the end of 2017.
The Ohio Council was established in 1979 and is governed by a 15-member board of trustees, composed of member organization chief executives. Elected by the membership, the board provides strategic direction for the council and leadership to the organization’s committee structure.
The Ohio Council is funded primarily through a dues assessment of all member organizations but also generates revenue through its various products and services and membership training events.
