Jammin’ Food Truck Festival moves to new location

ALabor Day tradition, the Jammin’ Food Truck Festival, has moved to a new location this year. The event will be held Sept. 2 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Center Street in downtown Dennison.
“We’re excited for it to travel,” Taylur Cunningham of the Dennison Depot Railroad Museum said. “It’s going to be the same event, just different locations. There’s nothing that we’re losing by changing locations.”
The event was previously held at the site of Schoenbrunn Village, which the DDRM no longer operates due to the large number of projects they are working on such as the remodeling of a different, larger location in Uhrichsville for the Clay Museum.
Two blocks of Center Street near the Dennison Depot along with one block of Fourth Street in front of the Claymont Public Library in Dennison will be blocked off for the festivities.
“The live music will be at the gazebo. And then the food trucks and nonfood vendors will be interspersed throughout but mainly in front of the depot and by the gazebo with some kids activities by the library,” Cunningham said.
The live music schedule includes Saxy Rob from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tequila Mary from 2-4 p.m. and Randy Velez from 5-7 p.m.
A beer garden will be available in the depot parking lot. The library will be open and have crafts and activities for children inside. Camp the Backyard is providing a variety of outdoor activities for families too.
The food vendors scheduled to attend as of press time are Enticing Cakes, Bang On BBQ, Cheezylicious Food Truck, Ross Mountain BBQ, Angello’s 2U, Fresh off the Farm, Messdad’s Concessions, Three Lil Piggies BBQ, Don Polo Mexican Food, Michael’s Confections, Josh’s Sweet Treats and Biscotti by the Bunch. Organizers are anticipating one to two more food vendors will be added before the event.
Nonfood vendors include Stretchies and More, Color Street, Scentsy, Beagle Club Creations, and Just a Rumor Designs.
The event is free to enter, but donations are accepted. Wristbands will be available to purchase for $3 and are good for $1 off every drink purchased and $1 off admission to the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, which will be open during the event.
Another way to support the fundraiser is to purchase a sampler ticket for $10. Each sampler ticket is good for four samples at participating food trucks and/or a soft drink or water at the drink tent.
The event is still accepting food trucks, vendors and volunteers. Call the Dennison Depot Railroad Museum at 740-922-6776. Information also is posted on the Dennison Depot Railroad Museum Facebook page.
“That’s where you’ll find all the information, and we will release a list of food trucks and more once we get a little closer. We’re still waiting on a couple to sign up,” Cunningham said.
Cunningham encourages everyone to attend.
“It’s a really fun community, end-of-summer event for everyone to enjoy. Who doesn’t like grabbing a bite to eat and spending time with family?” she said. “And, of course, the live music lineup is one of the best we’ve had.”
The new location in the village of Dennison will be sure to add much to the event.
“I’m most excited for the new opportunities with moving locations to see new people, new faces and just to see everyone enjoy it. It’s always a fun event,” Cunningham said. “My favorite thing is when I would see people bringing their chairs there and camping out all day.”
There will be a tent available outside the gazebo and one in the beer garden.
Current event sponsors include Dover Hydraulics, Trinity Twin City Hospital, Uhrichsville Carbide, RK Lindsey Funeral Home, WTUZ Radio, Bowerston Shale, Superior Clay, and Connolly, Hillyer and Ong.
