Holmesville Fireman’s Festival set for Saturday

Holmesville will be a beehive of activity on Saturday, August 28, when the annual Holmesville Fireman’s Festival will take place on the main square, at the fire house and around the school. Included in the daylong event will be a fireman’s festival parade, a chicken barbecue, live music, games, an auction, a visit from Metro Life Flight and more.“It’s going to be one full day of fun,” said Holmesville Fire Chief Mose Yoder. “We’ve got plenty of activities planned for the entire family.”The day will kick off with a baseball tournament in the morning, which will run all day. The chicken barbecue will begin at 11 a.m., with carry-out available. At 2:30 p.m., Metro Life Flight will soar into town, while the group Breakthrough will perform from 2-4 p.m., on the main stage. The fireman’s parade starts at 4 p.m., and will feature fire districts from all over the area. Following the parade, the Holmesville Citizen of the Year will be honored, and at 6 p.m., there will be a mini-auction filled with some wonderful items.Danielle and The Hanson Brothers will take the stage from 6:30-9 p.m., and everyone will want to dig into the chicken barbecue dinner with a side of homemade ice cream. Throughout the day, there will be games for kids and adults, raffle drawings and door prizes and plenty of other activities to keep people active and happy.“All of the proceeds that we make from this go toward equipment for the fire truck,” said Chief Yoder. “We would love to see everyone come out and have a great time.”
