Adventure begins at
the library
The 2024 Summer Reading Program will take place June 3 through July 20. There are reading programs for all ages and chances to win prizes. Visit the Central Library or East Branch Library to register.
Outback Ray’s Amazing Animal Show
Families are invited to join the library for this hands-on exotic animal show at the Central Library on Tuesday, June 4 at 1 p.m.
Epic adventures
Kids of all ages are invited to join the library for stories and activities at the East Branch Library on Wednesdays, June 5, 12 and 26 at 10:30 a.m. Each week will be a new adventure.
Story times
For kids age 2-5 with an adult, there will be story times at the Central Library on Fridays, June 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 10:30 a.m.
Little learners playgroup
Kids up to age 5 with an adult will engage in activities to promote reading and social skills at the Central Library on Fridays, June 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 11 a.m. Snacks will be provided.
Paws to Read
Children are invited to read to a certified therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines at the Central Library on Saturday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to noon.
School’s out pizza party
Teens will have a summer celebration with outdoor games and pizza at the Central Library on Tuesday, June 11 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required.
Adventure of the lost treasure
Want to assist with experiments while science heroes guide you through a jungle treasure-hunting adventure? Families and school-age children can join the library as an adventure story comes to life at the Central Library on Wednesday, June 12 at 11 a.m.
Exploring food from
other cultures
Pizza and tacos are familiar, but what about poutine and tangine? Adults and teens can join Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension Services educator, to learn about the history of some of their favorite foods while exploring some new ones at the Central Library on Thursday, June 13 at 6 p.m. Registration is required.
Space adventure
Presented by the Warren Rupp Observatory, families with school-age children will be offered hands-on space-exploration activities involving moon rocks and a moon crater craft, along with information about the sun, at the Central Library on Monday, June 17 at 11 a.m.
Quest for Mt. Everest
Larry Compton will share his personal experiences during his adventure of making the trek to Mt. Everest at the Central Library on Tuesday, June 18 from 5:30-7 p.m. Attendees will learn about the people, traditions and religions of Nepal through his personal video documentary.
Book discussion for adults
The event will be held Tuesday, June 25 discussing “The Excitements” by C.J. Wray at the Central Library at 1 p.m. and “The Uncharted Flight of Olivia West” by Sara Ackerman at Jitters Coffee House in Millersburg at 6 p.m.
A child’s homestead experience
Bring the Farm to You will present a pioneer experience for families as they step back into the 1800s at the Central Library on Thursday, June 27 at 11 a.m. Join the library for hands-on activities as attendees will grind grain, roll dough, use a washboard, and play with hoops, stilts and wooden toys.
