Holmes Chamber Clay Shoot is May 17

Networking is an important part of running a successful business.

Area organizations will get a chance to do that while having some fun during the second annual Holmes County Chamber of Commerce Clay Shoot on Friday, May 17 at Airport Ridge Sporting Clays in Millersburg.

“Last year was our first year (doing the clay shoot),” said Samantha Whitworth, Holmes County Chamber of Commerce membership and finance manager. “We just wanted to give everyone the opportunity to have another event to go to other than golf because not everyone golfs, so we reached out to Airport Ridge, and we set up a clay shoot for our members.

“We wanted to make sure that we were reaching all of our members, so there’s a different opportunity for everyone.”

The shoot is a 100-shot sporting clay event featuring four-person teams. Sign-up is underway and costs $500 per chamber member team and $600 per nonchamber member team. The registration deadline is May 3.

Registration includes a small breakfast, beverages, safety glasses, ear protection and lunch. Teams must supply their ammo. Limited guns are available for rental at Airport Ridge.

“(Teams will be able to) network (with each other), and it’s a great way for (the chamber) to get to know our members better as well,” Whitworth said. “And then we can kind of make sure that we’re doing everything as the chamber and the tourism bureau to help them and assist them to be the best that they can be.”

Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

“We put signs up for (companies that sponsor the event), so it’s a great way for other companies or other individuals to see their business,” Whitworth said. “It’s a great networking event. If you’re a sponsor and your signs are out there but I don’t know what your company is, and if I see you later on at the lunch, I can ask you about it and learn more about different businesses in the area.”
