Arline Mase, representing the Mineral City Area Historical Society, addressed Mineral City Council at the March 14 meeting after the organization wrapped up its first full year leasing the former Town Hall building.

Mase passed on the gratitude of all members and shared several pieces of information. She said MCAHS has received seven grants that were used for new doors, carpeting, paint, bathroom remodeling, filing cabinets and other improvements. Mase said the group received a $2,000 donation for a new sign.

According to Mase, MCAHS is applying for grants to repair deteriorating bricks on the building’s exterior and obtaining estimates to install a wheelchair ramp. MCAHS is open on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other hours are available by appointment by calling 330-432-0771 or 330-343-5371.
