Historic Zoar Village will open for the 2024 season on Saturday, April 6 and feature a new art exhibit titled “Scene Around Zoar” in the Bimeler Museum.

The exhibit will present art from the 1880s to the 1940s, showcasing the scenery of Zoar Village. The display will run from April 1 through Oct. 27.

Opening day also marks the unveiling of Historic Zoar Village’s “Best of Zoar” exhibit in the Town Hall, featuring artifacts and a brief recap of Zoar’s history.

There also will be a tree dedication ceremony at 12:30 p.m. on opening day to celebrate the new tree replacing the Tree of Everlasting Life. The original tree was severely damaged in a windstorm in March 2023.

During opening week, Noel Poirier will kick off Zoar’s 2024 Free Speaker Series with a discussion focused on how to research historic homes. Poirier serves as the executive director of the Ohio Genealogical Society and has worked with multiple families to uncover the history of their house on his website, The Lazy Family Historian. This event will begin at 11 a.m. on April 6 at the Schoolhouse.

Museum hours in April are Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. May through September hours are expanded to Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

General admission is $12 for adults, $6 for children age 5-17, and free for kids age 4 and under. Admission is always free for members of Ohio History Connection and the Zoar Community Association.
