Grazing workshop to be held at Dennison family farm

The Eastern Ohio Grazing Council will host a grazing workshop on Thursday, July 25 at 6 p.m. at Liggett Family Farm, 3815 Pleasant Valley Road SE, Dennison.
Matt Liggett and his family operate a Simmental/Angus seedstock operation in Tuscarawas County. Liggett’s family has farmed this land as long as he can remember, and in 2021 they had the opportunity to purchase it. The Liggett family has made it their home and is in the process of developing their grazing system.
Topics include Fence Building Discussion with Circle L Fence LTD, Watering Options and Paddock Layout, Dry Weather Strategies, an overview of MWCD programs with Rome Marinelli, and Pasture Animal Health with Dr. Cole Liggett, DVM.
RSVP to Carroll SWCD at 330-627-9852 or online at www.bit.ly/EOGCEvents.
A meal will be provided with RSVP.
Pasture walks are normally held on the fourth Thursday of the month in April through October on various farms throughout Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Stark and Tuscarawas counties.
In January, February and March, the council hosts winter grazing workshops, followed by a pasture walk on the Saturday following the workshop. Anyone interested in the conservation of soil and water through growing and grazing forages is encouraged to attend the monthly meetings.
The Eastern Ohio Grazing Council strives to promote the conservation of soil and water by growing and grazing forages and serving as advocates for sustainable and environmentally sound grazing practices. To attend any of the 2024 events, call the Carroll SWCD at 330-627-9852 to be placed on the mailing list or email Beth at beth.kruprzak@usda.gov to be added to the email list.
