East Holmes BOE approves supplemental positions

The East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Aug. 16 at the Central Office.

The board did the following during the meeting:

—Authorized the treasurer or their designee to initiate contract negotiations with GPD Group, the firm ranked most qualified, to establish the terms and conditions for providing the required professional design services. If negotiations with GPD Group are unsuccessful, the board authorized the treasurer or their designee to proceed with negotiations with Architectural Vision Group. The board directed the treasurer or their designee to take all necessary actions to finalize and execute the contract with the selected firm in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Sections 153.65 through 153.71 and the provisions of the RFQ.

—Approved the bus routes for the 2024-25 school year as presented.

—Approved 223 open enrollment students for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved contracts for four German consultants for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved the following people to serve as district representatives in Individualized Education Plan meetings to ensure the provision of special education programs and services as specified on a child’s IEP for the 2024-25 school year: Jessica Martell, Holmes County Training Center; Kim Riley, Tri-County Preschool (Holmes); and Kelly Luneborg, Buckeye Career Center.

—Approved a renewal agreement with Anazao to provide counseling services to East Holmes Local Schools students for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved a resolution to resolve that Bunker Hill School is no longer being used by the board and is no longer needed and further resolved to sell the Bunker Hill School building at a public auction held by Kaufman Realty and Auctions on Oct. 17.

—Approved Hiland FFA to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana Oct. 23-26.

—Accepted the following resignations: Tenieka Hummel, general teacher at Flat Ridge/Wise, effective Aug. 6, and Daren Maurer, teacher at Chestnut Ridge, retired at the end of the 2023-24 contractual school year.

—Approved a change in the retirement date for James Custer from Aug. 31 to Aug. 16.

—Approved a revision to Cheryl Whitman’s contract as a bus driver from 187 days to 184 for the 2024-25 contractual school year.

—Approved all substitute personnel hired by East Holmes Local Schools and the Tri-County Educational Service Center for the 2024-25 school year.

—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2024-25 school year for the following new certified personnel, pending completion of all licensure requirements: Carla Veil, teacher at Mt. Hope, and Staci Seibert, general teacher at Flat Ridge and Wise.

—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2024-25 school year for new classified personnel Bonnie Hershberger, cook at Berlin.

—Approved the following placements on the certified salary schedule effective at the beginning of the 2024-25 contractual school year: Kassidy Stottlemire to BA+150 and Tonya Widder to Masters+20.

—Approved the following supplemental positions for the 2024-25 school year: Sarah Sommers, high school musical director; Mark Stutzman, H.S. assistant musical director; Mallory Rearick, musical/pit orchestra coordinator; Zachary Rearick, musical/pit orchestra; Christa Wolf, H.S. assistant musical director (drama/stage and choreographer); Amy Schlabach, spring play stage/ticket manager; Michelle Mishler, senior class adviser; Mark Schlabach, junior high student council; Greg Miller, volunteer wrestling coach (Garaway Local Schools wrestling partnership); Kari Kaufman, LPDC committee; Angela Yoder, LPDC committee; Jason Weigman, LPDC committee; Casey Travis, LPDC committee; James Luneborg, LPDC committee;

Darren Blochlinger, standing joint committee for evaluation and HQSD; Jon Wilson, standing joint committee for evaluation and HQSD; Bonnie Brown, standing joint committee for evaluation and HQSD; Casey Travis, standing joint committee for evaluation and HQSD; Tyler Renner, standing joint committee for evaluation and HQSD; Michael Schaaf, standing joint committee for evaluation and HQSD; Caryn Rubio, standing joint committee for evaluation and HQSD; Launie Shaw, standing joint committee for evaluation and HQSD; and Heidi Olinger, standing joint committee for evaluation and HQSD.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Sept. 20 at the East Holmes Central Office.
