Dover School's board hires architect for proposed high school
Dover City Schools' board of education and the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission have selected the architecture firm SHP Leading Design to design the new Dover High School.
SHP Leading Design was chosen out of six firms that responded to the district's request for proposals.
“We were most impressed with SHP's work in building new schools across Ohio,” Superintendent Carla Birney said.
The firm will work with teachers, administrators, parents and residents in the community to develop the design for the new high school.
“Input from all stakeholders is important,” Birney said. “Our schools are the heart of the Dover community, and including community members in the design process will ensure we get a quality high school. It's a unique privilege for all of us to shape education in our community and schools for generations to come.”
Last November voters approved a 4.4 mill bond issue to build a new Dover High School at its current location.
“None of this would be possible without the generous support of our community,” said Elizabeth Lauber, school board president. “We are grateful for your trust and support, and we remain committed to keeping this project on time and within budget.”
The new high school is projected to open in 2019.
