Day of Caring another collaborative success in Orrville area

Day of Caring, a collaborative initiative between Orrville Area United Way and the Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce, took place May 1. Over 260 volunteers representing 23 local businesses and organizations came together to accomplish 39 projects.
Volunteers dedicated their time and effort to 15 nonprofit locations and completed two residential projects. Additionally, this year’s Day of Caring partnered with Sound the Alarm, a national program by the American Red Cross focused on home safety. Thanks to this collaboration, 45 smoke alarms were installed in 21 homes, ensuring the safety of 54 local residents.
The collaboration extended beyond volunteer efforts. Eight local restaurants contributed by offering a 10% Day of Caring dining discount to volunteers sporting their Day of Caring shirts.
This achievement was only possible because of the volunteers, businesses, sponsors and nonprofits. Day of Caring is dedicated to promoting volunteerism and community improvement throughout Dalton, Marshallville and Orrville and is an annual event.
