Create a work of art at Lincoln Way Vineyards

You don’t have to be Van Gogh to create a holiday masterpiece, but partaking in your favorite glass of Lincoln Way Vineyards wine may help, when the Wooster business presents its Sign Holiday Décor Sip and Paint on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 1 p.m.
For $60, participants will have the opportunity to choose from one of four 15-inch holiday-themed wood sign options to paint while sipping on a glass of wine. Included in the registration price are all the materials/tools, instruction and of course, the wine.
“And best of all, we clean up the mess so you don’t have to,” said Jim Borton, who co-owns Lincoln Way Vineyards with his wife, Sherri. “The Sip and Paint is a continuation of our tradition of hosting craft-type events in the winery.
“The events are a chance to just slow down and spend time with friends, family or new friends you haven’t met yet.”
Although the winery is known for its plethora of wines, Lincoln Way Vineyards also features sweet along with several flavored wines, currently showcasing peach, raspberry, black cherry and blood orange. And to round everything together, they also have their locally famous real fruit-based wine slushies available.
“Because we offer more than just wine, there is something for everyone, including nonalcoholic drinks to enjoy,” Jim Borton said. “We have had families bring four generations out to participate in the events so that the whole family is involved. We have had first dates at the events, too, which by the way, is a very unique first date experience — not the typical dinner and a movie.”
Growing up, Jim Borton said Thursday nights were always made for crafts in his family, where up until he was in middle school, everyone would participate in a fun activity together. So it was only natural that crafts continued into his family’s business.
“My mom, Janet Borton, suggested a spin on it for the winery, thus the Cork and Craft idea was born, with the focus on upcycling bottles, corks and more,” he said. “Since then, we have branched out to the other events previously mentioned, and we are always looking for more. Most of the events we are partnered up with someone who has a small business related to the craft being offered, so this is a chance to support multiple small businesses at the same time.”
Not only will the Sign Sip and Paint give participants the chance to get out and do something fun during the cold, winter weather when there isn’t always a whole lot planned, but for those who haven’t visited the winery, it gives people the chance to get to know the grounds and the people who run it.
And even better, you will have a handmade gift or keepsake that you created all by yourself to mark the occasion for years to come.
The upcoming Sign Sip and Paint event is by preregistration only through Lincoln Way Vineyard’s website at lincolnwayvineyards.com/events by Wednesday, Dec. 13.
In addition to the Thursday evening or Saturday afternoon crafting events, Lincoln Way Vineyards offers live music and food trucks and trailers (or some food service including fundraisers by various youth-based groups) all year round on Friday and Saturday evenings. All of its wines and ciders are made on-site, and Lincoln Way Vineyards grows 10 acres of grapes and sources from 10 other Ohio vineyards, most located in Wayne, Holmes and Ashland counties.
