County libraries add new equipment to MakerSpaces

The Tuscarawas County Public Library System has added new equipment to its MakerSpaces this fall.
With the addition of the new items, a 1-inch button maker is available at the Tuscarawas County Main Library and Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugarcreek and Tusky branch libraries, and a sublimation printer and tumbler press are available at the Tuscarawas County Main Library and the branch libraries.
“The libraries’ MakerSpaces are do-it-yourself spaces where people can gather to create, invent and learn,” technology training coordinator Leigh Burnham said.
According to Burnham, the new equipment is in addition to the 3-inch button makers, sewing machines, Cricut Explorers, small heat presses and laminators that were already a part of the MakerSpaces across the county library system. In addition, all five locations can accept 3-D print jobs to be run on one of the library system’s three 3-D printers.
Seasoned makers and those new to the maker movement can use the equipment on a first come, first served basis. While there is no charge to use the equipment with your own supplies, the library system does offer supplies to purchase, like cardstock, mugs, tumblers, vinyl, Christmas ornaments and more.
Those interested in learning more can call the library to reserve a seat for assistance sessions and classes. Space is limited for these events, and registration is required.
