Buchanan family honored by Tusc County Homemakers

The Tuscarawas County Homemakers were pleased to honor the Neil and Kathy Buchanan family as the Tuscarawas County Family of the Year. Ohio Homemakers and Community Education believes that a strong society is based on strong families. Neil and Kathy Buchanan reside in Bolivar and were nominated for the award by Winfield Homemakers.Family, friends and former award recipients were in attendance when Gino and Mary Jo Amistadi hosted a picnic luncheon at their home near Dover in a beautifully decorated outdoor setting. Hilda Hayhurst, a previous award recipient introduced the Buchanan family. The family includes daughter Kristin, son-in-law Rick Shine, and 7-year-old granddaughter, Aliya. Family members warmly reminisced and shared their love and appreciation for each other. Aliya, eagerly read her own account of the happy times she enjoys with her grandparents. A photo frame was presented to the Buchanans.Past recipients Hayhurst, Dean Feller, and Rich and Dorothy Feller reflected upon the importance of this award and what it has meant to their families.The Buchanans encourage strong family relationships and have helped many times with projects in the community.
