Berlin Summer Spectacular set for June 15 debut
Balloons, face painting and food are just a few highlights families can expect at the inaugural 2024 Berlin Summer Spectacular, set for June 15.

Balloons, face painting and the smell of home-baked goods wafting down the street are just a few highlights families can expect at the 2024 Berlin Summer Spectacular.

“This is the first Berlin Summer Spectacular being held,” Director of Operations Janet Flickinger said. “Sheiyah Market has sponsored the Kids Day in the past few years. We are collaborating to make a family-fun, town-wide event for our visitors.”

One of the many highlights of the Saturday, June 15 event is the display of paintings, artwork and sculptures created by local artists. The day is designed to celebrate childhood, art, community spirit and the joy of coming together to create lasting memories.

Flickinger talked about some of the key events that will help showcase the day.

“Kids Day at Sheiyah Market and the Summer Craft Show at Sol’s in Berlin,” she said, “also, Berlin Main Street Merchants hosting an Artisan and Maker Showcase of vendors along Main Street, displaying organic and authentic creations, some with demonstrations.”

Flickinger said Main Street will be lined with bright-colored balloon clusters to create a vibrant atmosphere.

“For the kids, definitely the special event at Sheiyah Market,” Flickinger said, “with food, games, bounce house, face painting, prizes and so much fun. Parents enjoy watching the delight and fun experiences of their kids.”

She also talked about how much visitors enjoy the artisans present throughout the day.

“The artisans will be enjoyed by all,” she said. “We have a sculptor and artist (the late emerging artist Robert Walker), a weaver, wool spinner (Milk & Honey Acres), fresh flowers (coneflowerherbals.com), polymer jewelry and more. We want to inspire a deeper awareness of historic hand trades and enthusiasm for creating art. Sol’s in Berlin is hosting a Summer Craft Show that will exhibit some of their vendors and demonstrate unique craftsmanship.”

The event will begin at 10 a.m., and vendors will be set up until 5 p.m. Music on the square can be heard from 5-9 p.m. as the evening winds down.

Flickinger said food trucks will be present to assist the local restaurants in feeding those who attend.

“The Berlin Main Street Merchants were especially selective in our search for vendors,” Flickinger said. “We sought out items made from original beginnings and home/family based.”
