Auditions for the original production, “Being of Sound Mind,” will be held at the Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County on Sunday and Monday, Jan. 7 and 8, with registration beginning at 6 p.m. and auditions at 6:30 p.m. The premiere event will showcase the work of local playwright Richard Parker.

Director Shawn Clay said the play is a farcical comedy set in an attorney’s office. It follows his desperate attempts at reading a will. The heirs have gathered around him and are seeing to it that he has the most difficult and ridiculous time during his attempt.

“Three things are true,” Clay said. “Carson McCafferty is dead, his sister Audelia and his nephew and niece Andrew and Sheila are all three jerks, and the audience will delight in seeing if attorney Fielder can ever finish reading the will.”

The play features two men and two women, with an additional role for a secretary who is only heard, not seen on stage. Auditions will be cold readings from scripts that will be provided.

“Being of Sound Mind” will run Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17. The production is sponsored by Dover Lodge #707 - Loyal Order of the Moose, along with season sponsor, The Fraternal Order of the Eagles #515 of Dover.

The Little Theatre is located at 466 Carrie Ave. NW in New Philadelphia.
