Area events upcoming in Wooster

Three events will be held in the area over the weekend of Sept. 14-15.

Pancakes and planes

The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 846 will host a pancake breakfast and fly-in on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Wayne County Airport, 6020 N. Honeytown Road, Smithville.

Get a breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and unlimited pancakes with the cost by donation. Rides also will be available on Liberty Aviation’s 1929 Ford Tri-Motor. The meal will happen rain or shine.

Badges & Bobbers

The Wooster Police Department’s annual Badges & Bobbers fishing derby will be held Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at Freedlander Park.

The event is for those age 15 and under accompanied by a chaperone. Fishing is catch and release, and there will be prizes. Fishing equipment will be provided if needed.

Remembering Smucker

Larry Smucker, a Life Well Lived will be held Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. at Freedlander Chalet in memory of the late Larry Smucker.

Come and share memories of Smucker, who spent nearly 40 years as a volunteer and coach of Wooster Parks & Recreation’s swim team and with the Freedlander Swim Meet.
