The annual Spring Healthcheck will take place Saturday, March 9, sponsored by the Rotary Club of New Philadelphia. The health check will offer a comprehensive blood screening to measure a range of health indicators. Appointments are available from 6-11 a.m.

This year Rotary has a new clinical partner for the health check. SpringVale Health Center in Dover will provide the blood draws and laboratory testing and reporting service. The event will take place at the SpringVale Health Center at 204 S. Bellevue Ave. in Dover.

Elements of the blood profile include a cholesterol lipid panel for HDL, LDL and triglycerides; a comprehensive metabolic panel for kidney and liver function and blood glucose; a complete blood count test for anemia, infection and immunity; and a TSH to measure thyroid function.

Testing options include a PSA screen for prostate cancer for men age 50 and over. New this year is an optional A1C test to measure long-term management of blood sugar levels.

Online appointments can be made at any time by going to the Rotary Club website at www.newphiladelphiarotary.com. Scroll down to the Healthcheck event and click Register. Complete the online registration form by selecting an appointment time and providing the information requested.

Health check appointments also can be made by calling the SpringVale Health Center at 330-313-2907. Call weekdays during business hours.

The price of the comprehensive blood profile is $55 per person. The optional PSA and A1C tests are an additional $15 each.

A printed lab report will be sent to the home of each health check participant within two weeks of the event.

Proceeds from the health check are used by the New Philadelphia Rotary Club for its community service activities.
