Stark Parks adds new e-waste and compost bin locations

Two new drop-off sites in Massillon and Magnolia expand public recycling and composting options across Stark County.

Stark Parks has expanded its public electronic recycling and composting services with the addition of two new drop-off locations, further supporting sustainability efforts across Stark County.

The new sites are located at the Bridgeport Quarry Trailhead on the Towpath Trail in Massillon and at 9700 Cleveland Ave. SE in Magnolia, near Fry Family Park. The services are offered in partnership with Summit E-Waste and Rubber City Reuse, with all locations available for public use beginning this month.

“Providing convenient recycling and composting options is a major factor in ensuring our community can reduce waste while protecting natural resources,” said Derek Gordon, deputy director of Stark Parks. “These expanded locations make it easier for residents to participate in sustainable practices and support Stark Parks’ commitment to environmental stewardship.”

In 2025, Stark Parks collected 12,850 pounds of electronic waste across multiple park locations and 17,045 pounds of compost at the compost bin near the Wildlife Conservation Center at Sippo Lake Park.

Electronic recycling locations include Sippo Lake Park North, 5712 12th St. NW, Canton; Petros Lake Park, 3519 Perry Drive SW, Canton; Walborn Reservoir, 11324 Price St. NE, Alliance; Bridgeport Quarry Trailhead, 3455 Erie Ave. NW, Massillon; and 9700 Cleveland Ave. SE, Magnolia, at the corner of Cleveland Avenue SE and Farber Road.

Compost bin locations include Sippo Lake Park West, 800 Genoa Ave. NW, Massillon; Bridgeport Quarry Trailhead, 3455 Erie Ave. NW, Massillon; and 9700 Cleveland Ave. SE, Magnolia.

In addition to year-round bin access, Stark Parks will host three special drop-off events in 2026, allowing community members to recycle electronic waste through Summit E-Waste and donate gently used items to Goodwill of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio. The events are scheduled for April 22 at Tam O’Shanter Park in Canton from 4-7 p.m.; Aug. 15 at Sippo Lake Park in Perry Township from 9 a.m.-noon; and Oct. 24 at 9700 Cleveland Ave. SE in Magnolia from 9 a.m.-noon.

Information on acceptable materials can be found through Summit E-Waste and Rubber City Reuse. Additional details about Stark Parks sustainability initiatives, drop-off locations and special collection events are available at StarkParks.com.
