Recycle your Christmas tree, Lake Township announces

Yard waste facility will accept trees Dec. 29 through Jan. 6, with trustees also addressing staffing, legal services and 2026 appropriations

Lake Township trustees announced at their Dec. 22 meeting that the township yard waste facility will be open for Christmas tree recycling from Dec. 29 through Jan. 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Jan. 3-4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Jan. 5-6 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents must have their cards to use the facility.

In other business, the board approved a job description and authorized soliciting applications for a zoning and economic development administrator.

Trustees agreed to hire Eric J. Williams as additional legal counsel at $3,500 per month. They will continue legal services with Tonya J. Rogers, who has served for six years, and thanked her for her service.

The board authorized expenditures for certain township employees and elected officials to attend the 2026 Ohio Township Association Winter Conference. Trustees also agreed to purchase gift cards from the Hartville Kitchen for township employees for the Christmas luncheon.

Trustees agreed to submit a petition to vacate a roadway to the Stark County commissioners for the Sylvan Avenue unimproved right of way.

The board approved payment of $729 to Pauli Electric Inc. to replace an existing electrical box at the Uniontown Police Station.

Trustees agreed to hire Abigail Nicely-Bauer as a part-time reserve police officer.

The board approved payment of $4,137 for a two-year renewal of Sonic Firewall Services from 415 Group for the administrative office, Police Department and Road Department.

Trustees agreed to continue paying the $200 annual membership fee to the Coalition of Large Ohio Urban Townships.

Three residents addressed the board, including two with complaints about potholes on their road and one with concerns about a proposed soccer program.

At the conclusion of the meeting, trustees and the fiscal officer recessed into executive session to discuss a personnel matter. No action was taken.

During the organizational meeting held prior to the business meeting, trustees elected John Arnold as board president and Sue Grabowski as vice president.

The board approved total expenditures of $91,045.33 and authorized Fiscal Officer Matthew Erb to approve temporary appropriations for 2026 in the amount of $9,302,323.38.

The next regular meeting of the Lake Township Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at 5 p.m. at the Township Hall, 12360 Market Ave. N. All meetings are open to the public.
