Coshocton doctor advises on diabetes prevention
Dr. Jennifer Pennock highlights lifestyle changes to reduce diabetes risk in Coshocton
The Coshocton Public Health District continues its informational spotlight with Dr. Jennifer Pennock. She is with Genesis Coshocton Specialty Center, and her specialty is endocrinology. She can be called at 740-722-9524.
She wants to help people understand lifestyle changes such as healthy eating and increasing physical activity can make a big difference in controlling diabetes and reducing the risk of complications from diabetes.
"A small yet impactful change that you can make is committing to taking a 30-minute brisk walk five days a week," Pennock said. "This can have a profound impact on your long-term health. A brisk walk improves insulin sensitivity, which is the body's defense against developing type 2 diabetes, which is one of the most prevalent diseases. Beyond disease prevention, this habit contributes to better sleep, sustained energy, and a boost to overall mood and mental well-being."
Pennock enjoys working in Coshocton because the people are friendly and appreciative of the specialized endocrine care they receive.
"The genuine gratitude from patients and their families makes practicing here rewarding," Pennock said.
