Centerra Co-op purchases Coshocton Grain

Centerra Co-op is in the final stages of purchasing Coshocton Grain Company. This agreement will mark a positive step forward in strengthening Centerra’s ability to serve farmers across Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

Coshocton Grain Company operates two key facilities – a soybean processing plant and a unit train grain facility in Coshocton, and a grain facility in Hebron, just 30 miles east of Columbus. The Coshocton plant uses ExPress® technology to produce high-quality extruded soybean meal and soy oil. The Hebron location specializes in loading grain into intermodal containers for export.

“Coshocton Grain Company has been an integral part of this agricultural region since 1948, operating as an independent business. This transaction will be good for our shareholders, employees and customers. We are looking forward to our future with Centerra,” said CEO of Coshocton Grain Rhoda Warnock.

Centerra will continue operating both facilities, adding them to its growing network of agricultural services. The Hebron site will complement Centerra’s existing intermodal shipping operations in Grafton, giving the co-op more capacity and flexibility when it comes to moving grain to market.

“This addition brings an exciting and innovative business unit to our co-op,” said Jean Bratton, CEO of Centerra co-op. “Diversifying our services is key to long-term success, and this opportunity will open up new markets for our members’ grain. It also helps spread our footprint across more geography, which can protect against weather-related risks.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome the Coshocton Grain team to Centerra Co-op and look forward to working together to support local farmers with reliable, forward-thinking services that help them succeed today and into the future.”

“The honor of my career has been to lead the Coshocton Grain Company and Coshocton Soy Processing, serving our community, our farmers, and our valued customers,” Warnock aid. “With this sale, we are confident the new ownership will continue our tradition of quality, integrity, and service. This transition ensures that both our current and future customers will benefit from new opportunities, expanded resources, and a continued commitment to excellence. I am deeply grateful to our employees, shareholders and community for their trust and support over the years, and I look forward to seeing the company thrive in this next exciting chapter.”
