Secrest Arboretum to host plant sale, garden fair

The Secrest Arboretum in Wooster will host two upcoming events: the Spring Plant Discovery Days Plant Sale and the Secrest Garden Fair. Both events are free and are sponsored by the Friends of Secrest Arboretum.

The Spring Plant Discovery Days Plant Sale will be held May 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Secrest Welcome Center. There will be trees and shrubs, perennials and annuals, vegetables, herbs, native prairie plants and other botanical items. Also available at the Spring Plant Discovery Days Plant Sale will be Secrest select plants. These plants are chosen by the Secrest Arboretum due to their ornamental, ecological and functional traits proven to thrive in northeast Ohio. Members of Friends of Secrest Arboretum get a 10% discount on purchased plants.

The fifth annual Secrest Garden Fair will be held June 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event features a selection of 40 vendors and local artists, food trucks and a plant sale. Guided arboretum tours will be offered at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., educational workshops at 10 a.m., noon and 1 p.m., and hands-on crafts for children. The event will also feature the Garden Shed Sale, an opportunity to find donated, gently used garden-related items.
