Dover Library to host end-of-life planning series in October

Four-part “Your Story – Well Told” program will cover wills, funeral planning, cemetery options and veterans’ benefits with local experts.

Each program will feature local experts offering insights on legal, funeral, cemetery, veterans and outreach-related matters to help families with end-of-life planning.

In coordination with Geib Funeral Homes, the Dover Public Library will present a four-part series titled “Your Story – Well Told” in October.

The free, informative sessions will be held every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s community room, 525 N. Walnut St. Each program will feature local experts offering insights on legal, funeral, cemetery, veterans and outreach-related matters to help families with end-of-life planning.

“Just as a library preserves stories for future generations, advanced funeral planning ensures your wishes are documented, honored and financially secured,” said Nick Alleshouse, certified pre-planning consultant and licensed life insurance professional with Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. “By planning today, you relieve your loved ones of both emotional and financial stress, allowing them to focus on healing, remembrance and a life well lived.”

The schedule is as follows:

— Oct. 6: Alleshouse and Anne Geib Dorris, fifth-generation owner and president of Geib Funeral Home and Crematory, will discuss creating meaningful celebrations for families in the community.

— Oct. 13: Attorney James F. Contini, a certified specialist in estate planning, trusts and probate law with Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty, will provide an overview of wills, trusts and charitable planning, and how to avoid probate without a living trust. While the library is closed to the public that day, the community room will open at 6 p.m. for participants.

— Oct. 20: Scott Harmon, superintendent of Dover Cemeteries, will review burial trends over the past 20 years, and Murphy Wilson, sales manager for Dover Memorials, will discuss designing memorials that reflect loved ones’ lives.

— Oct. 27: Jamie Grunder and Michelle Shook of Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services will explain long-term care eligibility, waiver services and adult protective services. Debbie Cook, director of the Tuscarawas County Veteran Service Office and a U.S. Army veteran, will highlight benefits available to veterans and their families.

Registration is required. Visit www.doverlibrary.org/events or call 330-343-6123 for more information.
