After nearly 40 years as full-time pastor at Medina Community Church, Doug Davidson is retiring. Pastor Doug – or, as the kids call him, “PD” – has spent more than half his life in Medina shepherding and loving the church family at MCC, while also being deeply involved in the broader community. He and his wife, Bev, raised their three children – Katie, Marc and Beth – in Medina.
Over the years, Doug organized Medina-area pastors through a First Wednesday Pastor gathering, giving local clergy the opportunity to build relationships and work together to spread the gospel.
For more than 30 years, he has also developed a friendship with Fellowship Baptist Church, first with Pastor John Peterson and more recently with Pastor Michael Wilson. The two churches have worked together on numerous projects aimed at bridging gaps and strengthening the community.
Doug has been not only a pastor, but also a friend, counselor and teacher to many – not just within his church family, but to anyone who came to him in need. He has consistently made himself available to listen and help whenever he could, driven by a deep love for the lost and broken.
It is uncommon for a pastor to remain in a full-time role at one church for so many years, but Pastor Doug has thrived by being involved at every level of ministry – working with children, teens, meal programs, Operation Homes and more.
Doug’s love for people of all ages is evident in his daily life. He can be found leading water days with children, going on mission trips with junior high and high school students, talking with and praying for people in the parking lot during drive-through meals, and building friendships with the AA group that meets at MCC each weekday.
