The June trip includes a visit to the Wyeth family home and studios, highlighting N.C. Wyeth’s legacy, including his iconic illustrations for Treasure Island.

The Wyeth family of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, is well known in American art history. N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth produced some of the most celebrated American art of the 20th century. N.C. Wyeth is best known for his book illustrations during the early 1900s, including works such as Robin Hood and Treasure Island. His son, Andrew, developed a distinctive style that captured the spirit and isolation of rural America. Andrew’s son, Jamie, has continued the Wyeth tradition of fine art into the 21st century.

This extensive collection of historic American art was created at the family’s remote country home in Chadds Ford. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the history and legacy of the Wyeth home, studio and museum.

Cheryl Sturgeon of the Medina County Art League is arranging a guided three-day trip to the Chadds Ford area so participants, and a guest if they choose, can immerse themselves in American art history and learn what inspired generations of the Wyeth family artists.

The trip is a three-day, two-night bus tour scheduled for June 9-11. Participants will visit the home and studios of the Wyeth family at the Brandywine Museum and Studios in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, with opportunities to view their artwork up close. The itinerary also includes a tour of nearby Longwood Gardens, known for its expansive horticultural displays.

The package includes transportation aboard a fully equipped motor coach, two nights of accommodations, breakfast each morning, three additional meals and all admissions to the venues.

Travelers do not have to be members of the Medina County Art League to participate. The price for the tour ranges from $677 to $798 per traveler, depending on the number of passengers, and is based on double occupancy. A single-room option is available for an additional $170.

Payment is due in advance by March 1. Questions may be directed to Cheryl Sturgeon by email at csturgeo@neo.rr.com or by calling 330-241-1984.
