East Knox track teams finish third at Cowen Invitational

Girls win three relays, boys have two individual champs

Both the boys and girls teams from East Knox finished third at the Cowen Invitational on April 18 at Loudonville.

The girls team won three of the four relays and the Bulldogs had two individual race champs in finishing third.

The 4x100 team of Ava Faucett, Alexandria Wythe, Ellie Clark and Macie Fawcett won in a time of 53.21; the 4x200 team of Faucett, Clark, Fawcett and Isabelle Bostic finished in 1:46.81; and the 4x400 team of Faucett, Clark, Fawcett and Bostic was first in 4:18.90.

Faucett also won the 200-meter dash in 26.79, edging teammate Bostic, who finished second in 27.22. Bostic won the 400 in a time of 1:00.18.

On the boys’ side, Logan Clark won the 100 in 11.39, while Cason Faucett won the 400 in 50.68. Clark also finished second in the 200 (23.25), while Logan Hercenberg came in second in the 300 hurdles (42.87). The 4x200 relay team of Faucett, Hercenberg, Weston Bostic and Clark finished as runner-up in 1:33.63.

Softball

East Knox watched as Fredericktown scored 10 runs in the first inning en route to a 22-1 victory on April 15.

Kenlie Moore smacked a double to lead EK. Lydia Hill and Mackenzie Wilson both singled.

Hill started on the mound for EK, fanning three in three innings of work. Wilson finished up.

Another huge inning proved costly for East Knox on April 21, as Centerburg scored 10 in the third and went on to a 22-5 victory.

Moore and Paizley Lilly each had a double and a single to lead EK. Rhyley Lilly added two singles, while Wilson and Bailey Maidel had one each.

Hill pitched the first four innings, fanning four. Wilson finished up, whiffing one.

Baseball

The East Knox baseball team made it a clean sweep of Fredericktown, rallying with three runs in their final at bat to beat the Freddies 7-6 on April 15.

Zayne Grennell smacked four singles to lead the Bulldogs. Caden Ridenour added a double, single and three RBI, while Colton Armstrong and Caleb Armstrong each had two singles. Garrett Wesney smacked the game-winning single with no outs in the bottom of the seventh.

Colton Armstrong went the distance on the hill for EK, fanning three.

The Bulldogs followed that up by pounding Genoa Christian, 24-3, on April 17. EK scored 18 runs in the third inning.

Jaxon Lester smacked two doubles and a single to pace EK. Dakota Cooper added four singles, while Jesse Dudgeon had a double and a single. Grennell and Braxton Lahmon each had two singles, while Wesney had a double.

Wesney worked the first three innings on the mound, striking out four. Gavin Kidwell fanned four in two innings.

Parker Schwartz’s double in the bottom of the seventh propelled East Knox to a 6-5 victory over Centerburg on April 21.

Grennell, Lester and Cooper each had two singles for the Bulldogs. Colton Armstrong, Ridenour and Dudgeon had one each.

Caleb Armstrong pitched the first 5.1 innings, striking out three. Grennell finished up, fanning one.
