Ohio budget includes Holmes County projects
More than $800,000 directed to county community improvements
State Rep. Mark Hiner (R-Howard) voted in support of Ohio’s capital budget bill, a two-year capital improvements budget for state and community projects throughout the state totaling nearly $4 billion.
The bill provides appropriations for state infrastructure needs including renovations to state offices, new construction for mental health facilities, land acquisition and equipment. The plan also includes just over $200 million for community projects, which come from outside state agencies and have a benefit or nexus to the state.
All 88 counties will receive funding for community projects.
Hiner helped secure investments for the following community projects in Holmes County: $250,000 for the Winesburg Park Improvement Project, $500,000 for the Holmes County Exposition Center expansion and $65,000 for the Holmes County Historical Society Victorian House.
“I am thrilled to announce over $800,000 in investment to Holmes County,” Hiner said. “This money is getting pumped directly into our communities for projects that every citizen can benefit from.”
The bill now heads to Gov. Mike DeWine for consideration.
