Community generosity supports Love Center in December

Hundreds of families were served as donations and volunteer support continued throughout the month

The Love Center served 254 families through 342 visits in December, distributing more than 53,000 pounds of food with the help of 700 volunteer hours and extensive community support.

A total of 254 different families came to the Love Center during December. Some families came in more than once, making a grand total of 342 visits. Food from the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank was 36,334 pounds, and food donated by businesses, churches and individuals was 16,855 pounds. Volunteer hours served at the Love Center totaled 700.

Food and cash donations from churches and ministries included Berlin Christian Fellowship, Berlin Mennonite Church, Broken Grounds, Clark Church, Community Bible Church, Faith Lutheran Church, Gateway Fellowship, Martins Creek Mennonite Church, Ripley Church of Christ, St. John’s Church of Millersburg, St. John’s Church of Walnut Creek, St. John’s Lutheran Ladies Aid, St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Millersburg, The Church of Christ and Zion Reformed Church in Winesburg.
