Finalists named for Montgomery piano competition
Local students to perform April 12 at Roscoe Village Foundation in Coshocton County
Auditions have been completed, and the finalists for the 38th annual Edward E. Montgomery Jr. Piano Competition have been selected.
Senior division finalist is Kenley Hayes, daughter of Melissa and Biff Hayes. Junior division finalists are Bryson Darr, son of Nikki and Brian Darr, and Clark Frischen, son of Janette and Steve Frischen. The winner of the senior division will be awarded a cash prize of $1,000. The winner from the junior division will receive a $250 cash award.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 12 at the Roscoe Village Foundation Visitor Center Ivy Room, these local students will perform on the Montgomery Piano before a panel of five judges. Adjudicators representing Coshocton County Schools are Tom Havelka, Alan English and Jane Crow. Those from the university community will be Dr. Harsha Abeyaratne from Muskingum University and Dr. Gerald K. Lee from West Liberty University.
Also performing in exhibition that evening will be 2025 junior division winner Jensen Hayes, son of Melissa and Biff Hayes, as well as younger talent provided by local piano instructors. Lee and Abeyaratne also will perform.
Doors will open to the public at 6:45 p.m. with limited seating available.
