Coshocton County students celebrate inclusion
Over 700 students participate in contests for Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and that gave the Coshocton County community a great opportunity to create awareness, learn more about inclusion, and share in the stories of individuals who live, work and thrive in the county.
While the Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities and its various provider agency partners are active year round in providing services and supports for those with developmental disabilities, March is a particularly fun time to highlight the important roles individuals with developmental disabilities have within the fabric of the community.
The Coshocton County BDD would like to thank the elementary school students of Coshocton County for helping to celebrate. There were 720 students who participated in the annual coloring (kindergarten through second grade) and essay (third grade through sixth grade) contests with 57 different classrooms participating countywide, representing all the public elementary schools and two private elementary schools in Coshocton County.
The winners of this year’s coloring contest are Kennedy Knoll (River View), Rorie Lambert (River View), Bear Ringwalt (Coshocton Christian), Arizona Rogers (Coshocton City), Jocelyn Shaver (Coshocton City), James Shaw (Ridgewood), Evelise Wise (Ridgewood) and Brooklyn McQuire (Sacred Heart).
The winners of this year’s essay contest are Aurora Earliwine (Sacred Heart), Kyleigh Gallwitz (River View), Jadelynn Renker (River View), Keaton Grandstaff (Coshocton City), Saoirse Nunley (Coshocton City), Graham Miller (Ridgewood), Rumer Ringwalt (Coshocton Christian) and Nolan McCombs (Ridgewood). Also congratulations to Alexia Desender from Sacred Heart School for winning the teacher classroom prize this year.
