Now
in its 55th year, the tradition of the Coshocton County Lenten
Luncheons will begin Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 11:45 a.m.
The luncheons are held at The Presbyterian
Church in Coshocton, located at 142 N. Fourth St., across from Court Square. The luncheon, held in the fellowship hall on the lower lever, begins with a choice of one of two soups
provided by members of area churches. There also is choice of a variety of pies. Tables are supplied with selections of cheese
provided by Pearl Valley Cheese. The
luncheons end promptly at 12:45 p.m.
The speaker
for the first luncheon is Rev. Mark Unrue of The Presbyterian Church. Unrue is retired from First Presbyterian
Church in Uhrichsville, having served there for 36 years. He has served the Presbyterian Church of
Coshocton on a part-time basis since fall 2024. Unrue is a native of Lisbon and is a
graduate of Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. He and his wife Cindy are parents of
two daughters and six grandchildren. The
topic for his message is Hope Through Forgiveness, and the scripture for his
message will be taken from II Corinthians 5:11-22.
Church
Women United, under the leadership of Christa Citola, coordinates the churches
providing soups, pies and kitchen workers. As in years past, the members of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes
provide additional support with workers from local high schools. Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Grace United
Methodist Church will provide soups and pies for the first luncheon.
A
brief Ash Wednesday Service is planned by Pastor Deb Quillen of Grace United
Methodist Church to follow the luncheon. The service will be held at 1 p.m. in the chapel of The Presbyterian
Church.
Parking will be available adjacent to the church at
the chapel entrance parking lot. Additionally, parking is available in the city parking lot, which is near
to the church. In the event of inclement
weather, cancellation information will be available on WTNS Radio and will be
available as early as possible.
