"Mouse Lightening" is the seventh fundraising sculpture created by local artist, Rebecca Sigler. It will be raffled off as a fundraiser for MTVarts' summer musical, "Grease."

Local artist Rebecca Sigler continues to give back to the local theater world.

Sigler has created her seventh sculpture depicting the summer musical production by MTVarts. This year's item is "Mouse Lightening," a takeoff from the MTVarts' show "Grease."

She created her first mouse artwork in 2019 — "Mice of Oz" — as an avenue to give back to the community, presenting it to Janis Stone and Bruce Jacklin of MTVarts as a fundraiser. They loved the idea and it has blossomed each year.

The first fundraiser was followed by "Sound of Mice" (2021), "More Cheese Please" (2022), "Mouse Act" (2023), "Pawloose" (2024), "Nine to Five MiceX" (2025) and now "Mouse Lightening."

Paragraphs Bookstore is displaying her sculpture in the store prior to the musical, which runs July 10-19 at the Woodward Opera House. Raffle tickets can be purchased at Paragraphs prior to the opening of the musical as well as at each performance at the Woodard Opera House. Raffle tickets are $1 each and as always, Sigler donates her artwork and 100% of the raffle proceeds go to MTVarts.

All of Sigler's mouse themed artwork (and her business name, Mouse Craft) are a dedication to her Grandma, Leona C. Burgess, who inspired her love for mice. Her work can be viewed at www.mousecraftstore.com.
